Which projects and fabrics are suitable for the Juki hzl-F600?

This Juki machine sews beautifully and works well with cotton and double fleece fabrics. When working with stretchy fabrics, you’ll find that it feeds the fabric through nicely with minimal issues. You can also use it when working on heavy duty fabric projects such as with canvas.

When it comes to sewing garments, the Juki hzl-F600 is great for sewing and hemming garments as well as mending.

And if you work on larger, heavy duty projects such as sewing heavy curtains to making quilts, you’ll be pleased with how smoothly you can change between projects.

What about buttonholes?

There are 16 professional buttonhole stitches available and small, medium and large cutting width adjustment, leaving you with industrial-standard buttonholes.

Box feed system

Unlike conventional feeds, the Juki HZL-F600 uses a box feed system which means that the box feed moves the feed dog in a box motion, a more accurate system. Your fabric is moved by the feed dogs in a discrete way between stitches, so you don’t need to worry about the fabric shrinking or getting “eaten up” by your sewing machine.

The steel feed dogs make it very easy to feed the fabric.

Foot control thread cutter

You can use the heel part of your foot control to cut the thread rather than have to stop sewing and press or lift anything. It’s a much easier way to cut thread- just use your heel, and continue focusing on your sewing.

Knee lift lever for presser foot

When you need to raise your presser foot, simply use the knee-lift lever and it can lift the presser foot to 12mm this way.

Wide, large sewing space

The Juki HZL-F600 has a wider sewing space making it easier for you to work on large projects like quilting, sewing drapes and curtains and other big projects that take up a lot of space.

Presser Feet

The following 12 feet are included with the Juki:

Standard Presser Foot

Buttonhole Presser Foot

Manual Buttonhole Presser Foot

Quilt Presser Foot

Blind Stitch Presser Foot

Open Toe Presser Foot

Edge Sewing Presser Foot

Patchwork Presser Foot

Smooth Presser Foot

Overcasting Presser Foot

Zipper Presser Foot

Walking Foot

There’s also a presser foot pressure adjuster so that you can adjust the presser depending on the type of fabric you’re working with. This prevents the fabric from puckering during sewing, and holds the fabric firmly in place.

Direct Select Mode

With so many stitches available, it can be a little annoying scrolling through each stitch until you find the one you need. We love that the direct select mode makes it possible for you to store your most-used stitches so that you can simply press a button for the stitch you need. You will only save a handful of the over 200 stitches available. A much easier way to change stitches when you know you’re using the same few over and over.

What’s great about the Juki HZL-F600 sewing machine?

Juki is a brand known for its industrial sewing machines and sergers, and so there’s a level of expectation when it comes to quality and longevity.

The Juki HZL-F600 is no different- it’s an industrial strength sewing machine that’s made of metal and also has quiet operation. It’s definitely made for those who work on many sewing projects and want a variety of sewing stitches and options to suit many different types of projects, leaving a professional finish.

When working on many sewing projects, especially if you run a sewing business, you want a sewing machine with ease of use, which is exactly what the Juki HZL-F600 gives you. The foot controller allows you to cut the thread without lifting a finger, and the knee lever can be used to lift the presser foot.

There are 16 buttonhole styles to choose from and you can also choose the width of the buttonhole without changing the width of your stitch. The system automatically measures the buttonhole width, and you end up with an even and perfect stitch on both the left and right side of the buttonhole, regardless of the type and thickness of the fabric you’re working with. You end up with a consistent buttonhole finish that looks professional!

A quick threading system makes life easier for you- simply push the lever and it threads the needle for you! The threading path for the bobbin case is clearly marked, making it easier for you to insert the bobbin.

There are three ways for you to trim the top and bobbin threads: You can automatically program the trims, push a button or use the foot controller to trim the thread. Choose whatever way works for you to make your life easier while sewing!

You can pre-program many of the sewing functions at the touch of a button, including the needle’s up/down position, the stitching pattern using single or multiple stitches, the thread trimming and the foot control trimming.

Juki is also well known for being the perfect machine for quilting! There are many decorative stitches available and also many stitches available exclusively to Juki machines.

Is the Juki HZL-F600 good for quilting projects?

The Juki HZL-F600 is an excellent sewing machine for quilting projects. There are many decorative stitches available for quilting, and you can even select the random stitch program so that it gives you interesting stitches throughout the quilt. It adds to the uniqueness of your quilt!

It’s extra large arm and table makes it perfect for working on large quilt projects. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to work on a quilt project with a smaller sewing machine- you don’t know how best to place the fabric so that it still sews well while you’re trying to control the feed.

You don’t need to worry about that with this sewing machine! The feed system is intuitive, making it easy to work with different fabric thicknesses and not having to worry about bunching and pucking which can ruin your stitch and project.

What after sales support does Juki offer?

Juki offers a 2 year mechanical and 2 year electrical warranty on its Juki HZL-F600. This gives you peace of mind if something is to go wrong. We recommend contacting the retailer you’ve purchased your sewing machine from if you have any issues.

Are there any issues with the Juki HZL-F600?

While researching the Juki HZL-F600, we came across mostly positive reviews from other crafters who have bought the sewing machine. For example, the average star rating on Amazon is over 4 stars out of 5, which is a fantastic score.

The people who have had issues with the Juki complain that the thread tension isn’t always spot on. However this seems to be a common complain about any sewing machine, so it really does depend on your expectations of thread tension.

Another complaint is about the cost of the machine. This is definitely a machine that is at the pricier end of the sewing machine spectrum, and it’s understandable that many people cannot afford it. You really need to do your reading and research before you make the final decision, and we hope that this review puts you a bit more at ease.

Who is the Juki HZL-F600 ideal for?

When researching for our Juki HZL-F600 review, we thought long and hard about who this machine is best for.

This is definitely a machine for someone who runs a sewing or crafting business, who works on many projects and has the money to invest in such a machine.

This sewing machine is not suitable for beginners- it is too overwhelming a machine for someone just starting out, and especially for someone who is not yet sure whether they enjoy sewing or quilting.

Spending this much money, the Juki is ideal for someone who wants to use the sewing machine for at least 20 years and not worry about buying another one during this time. If you have a young daughter who might be interested in sewing, you can pass it on to her once she has developed some basic skills and interest.

One Final Word

The Juki HZL-F600 is a high-end, pricey sewing machine perfect for those who love the quality and reputation of a Juki sewing machine, with the added features that take this beyond just a standard sewing or quilting machine.

If you have a professional sewing or quilting business, or you have the money to invest in such a machine, then this will be a great purchase that should give you years of sewing happiness!
