You might have guessed that the Brother XR9500 is a limited edition machine that’s targeted towards fans of the hit TV show Project Runway. It’s a popular machine with people who want to sew, quilt, embroider and monogram, and at a great price.
It’s a great machine if you want something that allows you to work on different types of projects, but isn’t too technical and advanced, making the machine more affordable than some of the other high-tech machines on the market. It’s a mid-range sewing machine.
If you’re an advanced sewer, you’d probably choose something with more features than the Brother Project Runway.

Brother XR9500PRW Project Runway Limited Edition Sewing Machine with 100 Built-in Stitches and Quilting Table

Stitches
The Brother XR9500 features 100 utility, heirloom and decorative stitches that make this a great machine for clothing, home décor projects and quilting. There are 55 built-in alphanumeric stitches if you want to do basic monogramming or lettering on your craft project (note that there is only one font)
Stitch selection is computerized, and the machine has an LED screen that’s brightly lit and lets you clearly see what stitches and settings you’ve chosen.
Threading
There are 8 styles of 1-step buttonholes, making it easy to create the right sized button hole for your next garment.
Although there isn’t an automatic threader, the advanced needle threading system is very easy to use and after a few times using the machine, it won’t take you long to thread your needle.
The Brother XR9500 uses a drop-in bobbin system with a clear cover so that you can easily see how much thread is remaining on your bobbin, and you won’t have to worry about your bobbin jamming!
Once you’ve finished sewing, there’s a built-in thread cutter that you can use to cut your thread.
Design
To make sewing a breeze, you can use the start/stop button to control the power of your machine without having to use your foot pedal. You can control the speed of the machine using the lever, and the machine operates up to 850 stitches per minute which is standard for most sewing machines.
The Brother XR9500 has an extension table included to give you more working space, and it has a brightly lit LED working area.
Quilting
For quilters, you’ll need to purchase the ¼ inch quilting foot and if you’re wanting to try free motion quilting, you can purchase a free motion quilting foot. There’s a drop feed function that drops the feed dogs for when you’re free motion quilting. You’ll be happy to know that there are built-in quilt stitches.
