Not all sewing machines are the same, and the Juki TL-2000Qi is definitely a sewing machine that stands out in a crowd of sewing machines!

You might call it the Juki TL-2000Qi or the Juki 2000Q:, both refer to the same machine.

The Juki sewing machine may not be as versatile and feature packed as other sewing machines I;ve reviewed, but it’s the perfect choice for professional sewers especially those who sell their garments, or who work for a living as a sewer.

The machine is heavy duty- there are no plastic parts to this machine! The machine is made entirely of aluminium. So this is not a great machine if you need to move it around a lot as it’s very heavy, but if you’re a professional sewer then you would have a dedicated sewing room or space and wouldn’t need to move your machine often.

Stitches

There’s only 1 stitch available on this machine. The Juki wasn’t built for fancy stitches-if that’s more your thing, you’re better off finding a different machine.

The high-quality of the Juki translates to high-quality stitches, and your garments will look more professional and be of better quality. This is not a machine for beginners who want to try a number of different decorative stitches.

The machine operates at high speeds, up to 1500 stitches per minute which is more than the typical 850spm of other sewing machines. This is perfect when you’re working on many sewing projects and need to work quickly.

You can control the length of your stitch, by using the stitch length control dial on the side of the machine. You can turn the dial from 1 to 6, with 6mm being the longest stitch possible.

Presser Feet

Included with the machine is a standard foot, a 1/5 inch quilting foot and an even-feed foot.

Threading

There’s an automatic threader to save you time and stress threading the needle. Admittedly, it does take a few goes before you become comfortable with threading the needle. Even though it’s an automatic feature, it’s not as straight forward as it sounds.

Once you’ve finished sewing, there’s an automatic thread cutter and to use it, you simply rock your foot back. The control for the thread cutter is on the foot pedal. But make sure you don’t accidentally rock your foot back to cut the thread when you’re not ready! A few sewers complain that they did this when they first got the machine, until they got used to it!

Working Space

The machine has a large working area of around 23 inches, which is great if you’re working on large sewing or quilting projects. A flat-bed extension table is included with the purchase of the machine, to make your work area larger.

There’s a knee lever which allows you to lift or drop your presser foot hands-free, so that you can hold onto the fabric and focus on the project you’re working on. This is handy for advanced and professional sewers.

Quilting

I love that there’s a needle up and down control so that you don’t have to manually lift or drop the needle when you need to turn corners or end seams evenly on your quilting project.

You can easily raise or lower the feed dogs for times when you want to try free motion quilting or when you want to easily glide your fabric without it getting caught on the feed dogs.

The machine includes a 1/5 inch quilting foot.

What People Love About This Machine

This is a heavy duty, high-quality machine that should last you many years and since it’s industrial in nature, it’s the perfect machine for professional sewers.

The machine operates at very high speeds, which is something that’s important if you’re a professional sewer, because time is money. You want to power through your sewing projects as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The quality of the stitching is excellent!

The machine has a very large work area which is important when you’re a professional sewer and you’re working on large projects such as quilting projects.

Cons

The machine only has one stitch, so you can’t work on creative sewing projects using the Juki sewing machine. This machine is ideally for those sewing the same types of garments, something simple or even basic quilts.

The machine is heavy, so even though you can carry it around using the handle, it’s not the type of machine you want to be moving around a lot.

The price- you get what you pay for, but if you don’t have the budget, you may be put off buying the Juki TL-2000Qi sewing machine. Try other machines instead such as this sewing machine.

So frustrating! I can find any assistance for it. I have been through the manual a ton of times but nothing works. I need help,i was unable to finish my neice’s wedding quilt in time for her brudal shower. I was very diappointed! Can you or anyone assis me wuth these issues please?

  2. I love my TL2000qi! It is strong and fast. One point I do have to disagree with is that only ‘professional sewers’ would want such a machine. Wanting the correct machine for the type of sewing one wants to do isn’t a splurge, it’s a necessity.

  3. I love the way this machine sews but I hate the foot pedal which accidentally cuts the thread a lot. I just ordered an attachment that hopefully will override this. The needle threader has never worked but that’s not big deal for me. The tension can be hard to adjust. Still I love it and would never give it back. The stitches are perfect and it sews through many, many layers like butter. I almost never have to use the walking foot. It’s not hard to control the speed and it feeds the fabric through really straight. The knee lifter is great and the button to cut the thread is wonderful. I just wish it didn’t have the thread cutter on the foot pedal.
